Apprentice Marine Mechanic

Onboard Engineering
11.2023 - 01.2025

After completing high school, I began a Certificate III Mobile Plant Mechanic apprenticeship with Onboard Engineering where i worked on a variety of vessels such as the Sydney Ferries & private superyachts. During this time I gained valuable hands-on experience and developed both technical skills and personal discipline. Although I learned a great deal, I ultimately decided to pursue a different career path after realizing that my passion no longer aligned with the trade.

Key skills learnt include

  • Adaptability: Comfortable adjusting to different tasks and changing priorities where needed
  • Physical stamina & hands-on work: Accustomed to hard manual labour and being on my feet for long periods
  • Communication skills: Learned to clearly collaborate between staff and explain technical issues to clients
  • Safety awareness: Followed strict safety procedures in a workshop
  • Time management: Balanced multiple tasks and priorities efficiently, ensuring work was completed within set timeframes
