  • Created a robust, scalable import strategy and roadmap for the Latin America region (3 markets) for apparel and GM, and recruited a talented, bilingual team of sourcing to deploy the new programs.
  • Developed from scratch the food sourcing division in Walmart Global Sourcing opening a new sourcing office in Bangkok in 2016 to support Walmart markets worldwide. Increased visibility for newly established, independent division, immersed the team into the Walmart culture and instilled cross-functional cooperation through workshops, training, and events.

  • Led the supply chain of more than 60 vendors mainly from South America and the commercial strategy for the Meat & Fish Dpt. with $430M in sales that represents 11% of total retail sales. The position reports to the GMM of Perishables.
  • Transformed the old commercial strategy of high/low prices to EDLP with an impact in COMP YTD of 15.6% and reducing the operational costs due to a stabilization of the in-store production, focusing in the Productivity Loop.


Red Meat Category Buyer

  • Managed $175M of red meat stock, vendor contracts, logistics, product development and pricing strategy. Red Meat represents 50% of total sales of Meat & Fish Dpt. In Chile, red meat and bread are the most important traffic driver to the supermarket.
  • Introduced the “American Beef”. This is a program that started with 5 tons and now it is 135 tons per month. This is positioning LIDER as the specialist of Red Meat in Chile because the American Beef has an excellent value for customers.
  • Handled severe crisis in imported red meat due to zoo sanitary problems in Argentina and Brazil. After this crisis I was able to strengthen D&S’s relationship with its key vendors maintaining both costs and volume prior to the crisis.


Poultry, Swine and Lamb Meat Category Buyer

  • Managed $175M of poultry, swine and lamb sales, vendor contracts, logistics, product development and pricing strategy. The three categories represent 50% of total sales of Meat & Fish Dpt.
  • Introduced the “Argentine Chicken”. This is a program that started with 20 tons and now it is 240 tons per month. Our customer can find in this IQF product a very good value proposition for convenience.
  • Introduced the “Chilean Lamb”. This program sold 3,000 whole Lambs in September, 2010 because we could integrate from the farmer to the supermarket all the volume and quality standards.
  • Participated in the plan and execution of the brand “The Good Cut”, transforming customer experience with meat products by improving quality, freshness and taste.
