• Oversee the preparation of delivery systems, dialysis area, and dialyzers, while confirming all mandatory alarm tests on equipment is performed.
• Conduct patient assessments and perform diagnosic tests to obtain vital signs, examine laboratory findings, and document patent general health.
• Assess and cannulate patient’s vascular access, including needle insertion in arteriovenous fistula or grafts for aseptic connection with dialysis tools.
• Review physician orders, collect pre-treatment dialysis data, administer dialysis-related intravenous or oral medications, and verify that patients take prescribed drugs.
• Develop interventions, observe adverse reactions to treatment, monitor the performance of dialysis machines, and advise providers of any significant changes in patient’s condition.
• Offer pertinent information through discussing patient concerns and answering questions relevant to care.
• Utilize sterile techniques to evaluate dialysis catheter exit sites and apply dressing on patient’s vascular access.
• Provide patient education applicable to medical conditions and Discharge patients when vital signs are stable.
